T.R. Miller basketball was in action Tuesday night against area opponent Excel. Both the girls’ and boys’ varsity teams picked up wins.

 

TRM 45, Excel 20 (girls)

Miller girls continued their hot streak, winning their twelfth straight game of the season, and their sixth at home.

Miller got of to a quick start and by half time led Excel 25-14.

By the end of the third Miller had a 17-point lead.

TRM would outscore Excel 12-4 in the fourth.

Leading the Lady Tigers was Kyla Bell with 20 points, nine rebounds and five steals; Janazsia Nettles with nine points; and Emonea Curry with seven points and two steals.

The Lady Tigers are 6-0 at home and 14-3 for the season.

 

TRM 56, Excel 40 (boys)

Excel outscored Miller in the first quarter 26-15.. The Tigers bounced back, outscoring Excel 19- 6 in the second quarter to lead at the half 34-32.

Miller would outscore Excel 22-8 in the second half, including holding the Panthers scoreless in the fourth.

Leading TRM was Chardian Johnson with 22 points, six rebounds and two assists; and Austin Holmes with 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

The Tigers are 7-6 this season.

TRM will travel to play Opp on Fri., Jan. 15. Games start at 4:30 with the B-team, followed by the girl’s varsity at 6 p.m. with the boy’s varsity at 7:30 p.m.
