Scholarship available for students

The William Carney Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans is proud to announce the first annual Southern History Essay Contest. The topic of this year’s essay contest will be: The Legacy of the Confederate Soldier and His Impact on American Society. This contest is open to all area high school students. Participants will submit a 1000 word essay that will be scored by a panel based upon historical accuracy, grammar and content. The winner will be awarded a $100 prize to be given at the April 2016 meeting of the camp (winner must be present to receive their prize). There will also be a second place prize as well.
