PMJHS students take life experience trip

The eighth grade students at Pollard McCall Junior-High School took what their school guidance counselor, Jennifer Hall, called a transitional field trip on Fri., Feb. 26.

The students made several stops throughout the day to visit places that can hopefully help make their transition from the junior-high school into high school a smooth and successful one. First, the students were given a tour throughout Flomaton High School; meeting the teachers and visiting the classrooms.

Next, their counselor took them to tour the Escambia Career Readiness Center, led by Todd Williamson. Lastly, the students were given a tour of Trustmark Bank led by Trustmark associate Alexia Swain.

Accompanied Hall and Principal Buddy Powell, the students toured the facility and were given insight by associates in each department at the bank on financial readiness.

In addition, the students learned about lending, setting up bank accounts, and the scholarship program Trustmark offers to selected high school applicants.

Swain said, “The students were very well-mannered and inquisitive throughout the tour. I’m confident these students will do very well in high school.”
