Turnout was ‘solid’ here

Voter turnout in Tuesday’s primary election was “solid” in Escambia County.

Nearly 8,000 of the approximately 21,000 registered local voters -or 38 percent – cast a ballot at the county’s 33 polling places.

Probate Judge Doug Agerton described the turnout as “solid.”

“With a presidential race on the ballot, you expect good numbers,” Agerton said. “Of course, too, the number of local races on the ballot will also drive numbers.

“When you look at local races, we only had two on the ballot, and those were for Atmore seats,” he said. “But still people in the east portion of the county turned out as well – which overall, gave us a solider county turnout.”
