WSNMS baseball starts 0-3

The W.S. Neal Middle School began its baseball season Feb. 29 against Pensacola Christian and continued in a doubleheader against Opp on March 1. The Eagles lost to Pensacola Christian 5-4. Opp swept the Eagles 7-5 in game one and 11-5 in game two.

 

Pensacola Christian 5, Neal 4

With a tie game 1-1 going into the fourth inning, the Eagles got a big boost plating three runs to take the lead. Pensacola Christian answered with two runs in the fifth to make the score 4-3 in Neal’s favor. In the bottom of the seventh Pensacola Christian rallied for two runs to pick up the win.

Caleb Briggs led Neal at the plate with four hits. Sawyer Lewis had three hits. Ioasic Smith and Jennings Hobbs each had two hits.

Hobbs got the lost on the mound, pitching two innings and allowing two runs. Dylan Ingram received the no decision allowing six hits with nine strikeouts over the course of five innings.

 

Opp 7, Neal 5

Neal jumped out early scoring two runs in the first inning. Opp scored three runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead. The lead was short-lived when Neal answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, to take the lead 5-4. Opp rallied in the fifth, scoring three runs for the win.

Sam Bosarge, Jennings Hobbs and Jacob Bondurant each had a hit for Neal.

Dylan Ingram took the loss on the mound.

 

Opp 11, Neal 5

Opp scored nine runs through three innings. After adding two insurance runs in the fifth inning, Opp held Neal to one run to take the win.

Leading Neal was Jennings Hobbs with two hits. Caleb Briggs had a hit.

Hobbs picked up the loss on the mound.
