Errors plague Brewton Dawgs

The Brewton Dawgs went 2-2 in Opp on Sat., May 28. Games are ongoing throughout the summer.

Dalton Shell went the distance on the mound while Joshua Winton and Malcolm Hawthorne had multi-hit games as the Brewton Dawgs cruised to a win.

Brewton scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back. The team added a run in the second and fifth innings.

On the mound Shell was dealing, surrendering only one hit, walking two batters and striking three batters.

Winton was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Hawthorne was 2-for-3 with a single, double and an RBI.

 

Dawgs 16, Opp 13

Brewton recorded 12 hits in an impressive offensive and yet dismal defensive performance from both teams.

Malcolm Hawthorne led the Dawgs with four hits and five runs scored. Caleb Winton was 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. Matt Hutchins was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Winton got the start on the mound for Brewton, pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs, two earned, and striking out four batters.

Hutchins and Micah Flores came into the game for relief.

 

Wiregrass Cardinals 12,

Dawgs 5

The game remained close with a 4-2 score in favor of Wiregrass,until the top of the fifth inning where Wiregrass exploded for six runs. Wiregrass added two more runs in the seventh to take the win.

Joshua Winton suffered the loss on the mound for Brewton, surrendering 10 runs, four earned, on eight hits, two walks and one strikeout.

Malcolm Hawthorne went 3-for-4 at the plate. Matt Hutchins was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Caleb Winton and Chris Jones had a hit.

 

Dawgs 3, Covington County 5

Jacobey Hawthorne picked up the loss on the mound. Hawthorne pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits, three walks and struck out six batters. Matt Hutchins had a double and two RBIs at the plate to lead Brewton. Caleb Winton was 2-for-3. Joshua Winton and Micah Flores had a hit.
