There’s a new taxi service in Brewton.

Robert Earl Boggan Jr., owner of Rob’s Taxi Service, was granted approval to begin services Monday.

Brewton City Clerk Steve Yuhasz said under the city’s privilege licenses schedule, tax services are required to obtain council approval before beginning operations.

Boggan said his service will feature one driver – himself – operating 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.

“I want to help the disabled and those who don’t have dependable transportation,” Boggan said in his presentation. “I’m going to offer easy rates and be available whenever people need me.”

While Councilman Fred Barton said he would prefer to see more than one driver on the payroll “for safety reasons,” Councilman Pat Poole “vouched” for Boggan.

“I know this guy,” Poole said. “When we’re sleeping, this guy is out working.”
