East Brewton readies for July 4 holiday
The City of East Brewton will hold its annual Duck Race on July 4 at 6 p.m. at Murder Creek Bridge.
Cost is $5 to enter a duck in the race. Duck purchase is unlimited. Winner of the race will receive $200, second place $100 and third place $50. To purchase a duck visit East Brewton City Hall.
The Duck Race is sponsored by Georgia Pacific.
Events on July 4 will begin at 9 a.m. with a spades tournament at the East Brewton Civic Center located near Fort Crawford Park and Piggly Wiggly.
Here is a complete schedule of activities set for the day:
• 9 a.m., spades tournament, East Brewton Civic Center;
• 1 p.m., bingo, East Brewton Civic Center;
• 4 p.m., horseshoe tournament and water slide, Fort Crawford Park;
• 5 p.m., musical performance by Melissa Cosey, Fort Crawford Park;
• 5:30 p.m., musical performance by Lois Crenshaw, Fort Crawford Park;
• 6 p.m., The Duck Race, Murder Creek Bridge;
• 6:30 p.m., musical performance by Brandon Patterson, Fort Crawford Park;
• 6:55 p.m., recognizing of 12U State Girls Softball Champs;
• 7:20 p.m., musical performance by Rob Arrant, Fort Crawford Park;
• 7:45 p.m., musical performance by Holly Wyatt, Fort Crawford Park;
• 8 p.m., musical performance by the High Horse Band, Fort Crawford Park;
• 9:30 p.m., fireworks.
