Those doing work for the City of Brewton are now required to provide proper licensing.

The council voted Monday to also require those contracted companies to provide proof of up-to-date insurance and business license paperwork.

In other business, the council approved resolutions to:

• provide matching funds for an Alabama Department of Transportation grant that, if awarded, would install new sidewalks from Tiger Drive to Brooks Boulevard at the West Alexander subdivision; and

• to apply for a community development block grant to upgrade sewer in the areas of Liles Boulevard, Sowell Road in the flats area and Fairview Circle.

Additionally, a committee was established to appoint two residents to the city’s industrial development board. Those chosen will be announced at next week’s board meeting.
