Iva Dell Pettis Fleming

Castleberry

 

Iva Dell Pettis Fleming, 75, of Castleberry, passed away Wed., July 6, 2016, in a Evergreen medical facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Fri., July 8, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Skipper officiating.

Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native and life long resident of Conecuh County. She was of the Holiness faith and was a former sewing machine operator at Lady Arrow in Evergreen, and Judy Bond in Brewton.

She is survived by her son, Calvin L. Fleming of Castleberry; daughter, Ruby (Roger) Coleman of Castleberry; two brothers, Howard Pettis of Castleberry, and Roger Pettis of Evergreen; and three great grandchildren, Layla Fleming, Zoey Fleming and Dustin Watts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer “Snag” Fleming; two brothers, Ricky Pettis and Billy W. Pettis; sister, Judy Rabon; and grandchildren, Leon Fleming and Randall Coleman.

Lois Virginia Lester Godbee

East Point, Ga.

 

Lois Virginia Lester Godbee, born March 15, 1934, of Castleberry, and formerly of East Point, Ga., died July 7, 2016.

Graveside service and interment were held Mon., July 11, at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert “Bob” Alton Godbee Jr. ; her children, Terry Godbee of Odum, Ga., Phyllis (Joe) Terry-Henderson of Hernando, Miss., and Tim (Anita) Godbee of Riverdale, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brother, Ernest Lester, Castleberry; and family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Tracy Cleve Godbee; son-in-law, Jimmy Terry; and great granddaughter, Amber Schroeder.

Emanuel C. ‘Bob’ Barnett

Brewton

 

Emanuel C. “Bob” Barnett,  88, passed away Thurs., July 7, 2016, at his Brewton residence.

Funeral services were held on Sun., July 10, at 3 p.m. at East Brewton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Watts and the Rev. Lee Cadenhead officiating and Cravers Funeral Home directing.

Interment followed in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton.

Pallbearers were Joe Fuqua, Drew Hale, Daniel Hodge, Jeremy Miniard, Lavon Miniard and Joey Shell.

He was born in the Why Not Community and he had been a life long resident of the Brewton area. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked in civil service for a number of years.  He has served as a deacon for multiple churches for the past 50 years and was most recently a member of East Brewton First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Opal Maxine Barnett of Brewton; a daughter, Metra Barnett (Guy) Sawyer of Brewton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
