Allie Mae Burch Hobbs

Allie Mae Burch Hobbs, 93, passed away on Sun., Aug. 7, 2016, at her Castleberry residence.

Funeral services will be held on Thurs., Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Bro. J. Heath Wilson officiating and interment following at Buffington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on today, Aug. 10, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

She was a lifelong resident of Castleberry. She was a homemaker and was of the Holiness faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin A. Hobbs; a son, Billy Ray Hobbs; and a great-grandson, Billy Ray.

She is survived by four daughters, Judy Hobbs, Myrtice (John) Baker, Loree (Fred) Burch and Jean (Pat) Patterson, all of Castleberry; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Judy Gail Arrant Smith

Judy Gail Arrant Smith passed away Thurs., Aug. 4, 2016, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital.

Funeral services were held on Sun., Aug. 7, at 3 p.m., from the chapel of Flomaton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating with Flomaton Funeral Home directing and interment following at Pleasant Home Holiness Cemetery.

She was born in Brewton and had previously lived in Flomaton prior to moving to Pensacola six years ago. She was a member of the Flomaton High School Class of 1974 and retired as a CNA at Century Care Center. She was a member of Hall’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Wesley Arrant.

She is survived by her mother, Thelma Lister Arrant of Flomaton; two sons, Jason Smith of Pensacola and Josh (Autumn) Smith of Navarre, Fla.; father of Jason and Josh, Wayne Smith of Castleberry; one brother Darrell (Deborah) Arrant of Flomaton; one sister, Kim (Jeff) McDaniel of Milton, Fla.; and one granddaughter, Amber Rose Smith.

Gazella Lavarn Hendrieth Stallworth

Gazella Lavarn Hendrieth Stallworth, 89, passed away on Aug. 3, 2016.

Funeral services were held Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. at Greater Pine Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Straughn officiating and Presley-Fluker Funeral Directors directing and interment following in Springhill Cemetery.

She was the third child born to Arthur and Clara G. Hendrieth Sr. on April 27, 1927 in Brewton. She attended Boykin School and later Southern Normal High School. She joined Old Springhill Primitive Baptist Church at an early age. She later became a member of Greater Pine Grove Baptist Church.

She met and married Clarence Stallworth, and they had 60 years together. To this union, two children were born, Jerrie Stallworth and Clara Marie Stallworth.

She enjoyed keeping curtains made for the church kitchen. Even in her long years of being disabled, she gave whatever she could to help support the church. She had a passion for collecting what-knots and believe, she had some what-knots. She also enjoyed working with her flowers and small garden. She was a very private person and didn’t get to know too many people.

She will be missed by all, including her husband, Clarence Stallworth; daughter, Clara Stallworth Brown; two sisters, Artherine Smith and Climmintine Richards; three brothers, Clarence Hendrieth, Arthur Hendrieth Jr. and Joe Lewis Hendrieth, who all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Jerrie Stallworth; sister, Edna East Jones; brother, Mark (Lillie) Hendrieth; three grandchildren, Shawn (Sheree) Stallworth of Pensacola, Fla., Johnny (Adell) Brown of Atlanta and Andre’ Brown of Demons, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Gussie Harris; great grandchildren, Ashiya Stallworth, Jashawn Stallworth, Ayanna Dale, S-Mya Dale, AuBriana Brown, Ahmaud Brown and Zoie Brown; two great-great grandchildren, Brienne Powell and Khennedy Powell; a god-daughter, Ashanti Mitchell; a very devoted friend who they both adopted each other as mom and daughter, Amy Lane; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Jimmy ‘Jim’ Ray Godwin

Jimmy “Jim” Ray Godwin, 61, of Foshee Road, passed away Thurs., July 28, 2016, at a local hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Mon., Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. at the East Brewton First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Jeff Scurlock officiating. Interment followed in Beulah Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native of Pensacola, Fla., a long time resident of Flomaton, and a former resident of McPherson, Kan., before moving to Brewton. He was a member of the East Brewton First Assembly of God Church. He attended Flomaton High School, was a former heavy equipment operator in the construction industry and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his mother, Louise Stacey of Pollard; his wife, Tammy Mayers Godwin of Brewton; a son, Randy (Chelsa) Godwin of Summerdale; two daughters, Christy (Dooley) Gibson of Elsanor, and Jennifer (Kenny) White of Robertsdale; a brother, Bennie (Lucy) Godwin of Millbrook; a sister, Debbie (Marty) Edwards of Cantonment, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Godwin, and his stepfather, Bruce Stacey.

Joyce Faye Martin Peacock

Joyce Faye Martin Peacock, 80, of Petty Road, passed away Sat., Aug. 6, 2016, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held today, Wed., Aug. 10, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and services beginning at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Eric Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Weaver Cemetery, Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native of Campbellsville, Ky., and a former resident of Milton, Fla., before moving to Brewton. She was of the Methodist faith and had attended school in Campbellsville, Ky. She was an inactive member of the Eastern Star and a retired physical therapist tech with 30 years of service.

She is survived by a son, Mitchell (Heidi) Newton of Houston, Texas; two brothers, David (Diane) Martin of Somerset, Ky., and Larry (Nanette) Martin of Syracuse, N,Y.; two grandchildren, Annie Lee Nicole Newton of Houston, Texas and Hillary Lynn Newton of Conroe, Texas; two stepchildren, Joshua White and Ethan White, both of Austin, Texas; and a brother-in-law, Vern (Clara) Peacock of Atmore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Peacock, and a daughter, Leeta Ann Newton.

Lawrence Eugene Green

Lawrence Eugene Green, 51, of Nelson Road, Brewton, passed away Mon., Aug. 8, 2016, at his residence after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held Thurs., Aug. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Fri., Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. John Kemp, the Rev. Woody Jackson and the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Spear Cemetery, Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native of Monroeville, a former resident of Castleberry, and a long time resident of Brewton. He attended Bethel Mennonite Church and was a flagman in the highway construction industry. He was an avid Alabama fan.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Peavy Green of Brewton; a brother, Danny Thomas Green of Mobile; a sister, Missy Davis of Repton; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Carolyn Manning Green; and two brothers, Steven Green and Devon Green.
