D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital recently welcomed oncologist Dr. Gregory Harris (right) to the hospital.

Oncologist, Dr. Gregory Harris was recently welcomed to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. Dr. Harris is a hematology/oncology physician with Woodlands Medical Specialists in Pensacola, Fla.

Dr. Harris will serve onsite at the hospital on Thursdays, working cohesively with fellow oncologist Dr. Rami S. Owera.

“This is the kind of medicine I always wanted to do,” Dr. Harris said. “I did a community based oncology fellowship because I love research which drives our field forward, but also for the patients which is most important. Just being able to provide good, quality medicine that people need is what I want to do.”

Dr. Harris graduated cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2005 with a bachelor of science in microbiology. He earned his doctorate at the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. He served three years as chief resident in internal medicine at Michigan State University Genesys Regional Medical Center before completing his Hematology/Oncology fellowship as chief fellow at Michigan State this past summer.
