Verlon Eugene Dolihite

Castleberry

Verlon Eugene Dolihite, 67, of County Road 27, Castleberry, passed away Thurs.,  Oct. 13, 2016, at his residence after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 15, at noon at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Casey Jones and the Rev. Bob Godbee officiating.

Interment  followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Castleberry,  with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native of Brewton, a former resident of California where he graduated from Escondido High School in 1968, and a long time resident of Castleberry.

He was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church and  a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Vietnam.He was retired from Container Corporation of America with 37 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Alabama fan.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Dolihite of Castleberry; his wife, Linda Crispin Dolihite of Castleberry; two sons, Steven (Stephanie) Dolihite of Brewton, and Cris (Kristy) Dolihite of Pace, Fla.; a sister, Toni Dolihite Tate of California; and  four grandchildren, Katie Dolihite, Earl Dolihite, Ed Dolihite and Jack Dolihite

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Dolihite and a son, Rusty Dolihite.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Johnny Wayne Alford

Andalusia

Johnny Wayne Alford, 69, of Marietta Road in Andalusia (Dixie Community), passed away Fri., Oct. 14, 2016, at a Mobile hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Mon., Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. at Craver’s Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J. Heath Wilson and Bro. Luke Golden officiating.

Internment followed in Damascus Cemetery at Douglas Chapel Church with Craver’s Funeral Home  Chapel  directing.

Pallbearers were Hal Clements, Lonnie Barnes, Michael Hall, Sam Blackmon, Lonnie Richerson, William Brazil and Wayne Cutts.

He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, and was a retired heavy equipment operator in the logging industry.  He was a 1966 graduate of W.S. Neal high school and was of the Holiness faith.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Blackmon Alford of Dixie; two daughters, Alene (O’Neal) Varner of Brewton and Lisa (Tony) Thompson of East Brewton; two brothers; Ed Alford of Alco and Haynes (Patsy) Alford of Decatur; two sisters, Blanche Cole of Brewton and Mildred Blocker of Pace, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Lyndsey Lee, Savanah Lee and Karrie Cutts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stokes and Gladys Alford; a brother, Russell Alford; two sisters, Myrtle Cole and Inez Hoomes; and a grandson, Dakota Lee.
