Tuesday’s “suspicious death” victim in Atmore has been identified as Daniel Keith Fox.

Family members told Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies they had not seen or heard from Fox in approximately a week but had not reported him missing. Instead, they decided to search the property and discovered Fox’s body outside, lying on the ground of his Ewing Farm Road home just after lunch Tuesday.

Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the death is being investigated as “suspicious, but all deaths are treated as homicides until proven otherwise.”

Lambert said the body had been exposed to the elements “for a lengthy time.”

A cause of death was not released, and Lambert said the body was taken to the Department of Forensics Sciences in Mobile for an autopsy.

Lambert said Fox’s 1992 Ford F-150 pickup truck is missing from the residence.

“It’s got a faded maroon stripe on the side and possibly a toolbox on the back with Alabama tag number is 30BK659,” he said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle in this investigation should contact their local law enforcement entity or the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at 251.809.2154.
