The T.R. Miller cheerleading squad edged out West Florida High School to earn first place honors this past Saturday at the Cheer Up competition in Brewton. TRM cheer coach Becky Edge said the competition was a huge success, with a lot of people showing up to support the charity event. “West Florida High School is a big school that had a lot of difficulty in their routine,” Edge said. “They had some falls and tumbling errors. I always preach to the team ‘Perfect is better than difficult’. While (West Florida) had higher difficulty levels we had zero deductions which worked out in our favor. We’ll have to work hard as we approach state competition.” TRM will will travel to Hanceville to compete at state on Nov. 19.
