TRM girls pull out win versus Flomaton

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers got off to a slow start versus Flomaton on Friday, with  a 13-13 tie going into the half.

Miller came into its own in the second half outcoring Flomaton 22-6.

“We didn’t play mentally tough like we should have early on the in game,” said TRM head coach Ron Jackson. “We picked it up in the second half. Flomaton did in excellent job preparing for the game. That being said, I still believe our defense played well.

“That’s our bread and butter and the players are doing a good job handling assignments and playing team defense. We have to do a better job boxing out and making free throws. We’ll focus on the fundementals moving forward.”

Leading the team in scoring was Janazsia Nettles with 11 points. Kyla Bell-Barton had 10 points.

The Lady Tigers are 17-2 for the season.

The boys’ varsity suffered another crushing loss to Flomaton 47-33, making it the third straight loss this season to the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes ran way with the score in the second half with a barrage of three-pointers.

Joshua Jolly and Michael Smith led Miller in scoring with 10 points each. Flomaton’s Antonio Dixon led the team with 10 points.

Miller is 3-13 for the season.

The B-team picked up a win. Rasheed Washington led the team with 10 points. The team is is 2-7 for the season.
