Miller erupts for 7 runs in fourth inning to down Milton

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers picked up a tough win on the road against the Milton Lady Panthers Thursday.

Down two runs going into the top of the fourth inning, Miller erupted for seven runs while faced with two outs. TRM scored its first two runs on a double to left field by senior Grace Ruzic. Addi Smith followed with a double to center field to score Ruzic. Anna Grace White followed with a double to left field to score Smith. After a bunt single by Gabbi Solomon, Steely Ruzic tripled to right field to make the score 6-2. Mallori Floyd connected for a single to right field to score the last run of the inning. Milton added a run in the bottom of the inning off a double. The Lady Panthers scored another run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Tigers escaped with the win with a 5-to-3 put out from White at third base.

Miller had 10 hits in the win. Steely Ruzic was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Floyd was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Solomon was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Grace Ruzic was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

Taylor Austin was the winning pitcher. She pitched seven innings, allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks. She had three strikeouts.

Miller improves to 4-3.
