Chamber of Commerce, WBCRA sponsoring giveaway

Now is your chance to make those local purchases work for you.

A joint project between the Brewton Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Business Council of Rural Alabama is going to put $100 into the pockets of five lucky people next week.

Melanie McGougin, chamber president, said the event is being sponsored to celebrate “National Small Business Week,” which is set for April 30-May 6.

“Shopping small businesses is at the heart of the chamber’s mission,” McGougin said. “To not only promote that local retail market from a business owner standpoint, this also allows us to help make five local residents summer a little richer when we give away five $100 chamber gift certificates to spend with a chamber member.”

Rhodes echoed McGougin’s sentiment.

“The (WBCRA) works to establish business relationships throughout our service area, and this project is a great example of our relationship with the chamber,” Rhodes said. “At the end of the day, our goal, too, is to promote business on all levels, and this project lets us do just that.”

To enter, one must make a retail purchase at a chamber member store between May 1-5.

“One purchase equals one entry,” McGougin said. “Then, we will draw for the five winners on Mon., May 8.”
