Annual Blueberry event set for June 17

Get ready to let the music take you as “The Voice” semifinalist Shelby Brown takes the stage at the Alabama Blueberry Festival on Sat., June 17.

Brown, an Elberta, Ala., native, was a show’s semifinalist on Season No. 9. Influenced by a number of artists, the 17-year-old Brown said she favors “different ends of the country scale such as Miranda Lambert, Leann Rimes, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton and so many more.”

“I also like to mix in a little bit of rock influence into some of my own music and really draw a lot from Fleetwood Mac, and Grace Potter as well,” her bio reads.

While official stage times haven’t been finalized as of yet, Brown is expected to do a morning and afternoon show.

“We are so thrilled to bring someone with such close local ties who has national exposure to our stage in Brewton,” said Melanie McGougin, Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce president. “We know Shelby is going to bring a fantastic show.”

The day will feature its traditional lineup with arts and crafts and food vendors, children’s events, live entertainment and an antique car show.

Vendors are still needed, said Judy Crane, Chamber executive.

“This is a great family event because we have something for everyone,” Crane said. “We are so excited this year to open up our event to vendors of all kinds – not just those with handmade crafts.”
Crane said local businesses – including home-based businesses, are welcome to set up shop. Cost for a 12×12 space is $85 without electricity or $95 with. Deadline to register is June 1 or “until the spots fill up,” Crane said.

For more information or to become a vendor, contact Crane or Debi Pugh at chamber at 251. 867.3224. Exhibitor’s application are available online at alabamablueberryfestival.com.
