D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital recently announced that cardiac and vascular ultrasounds are now available in hospital at D.W. McMillan in Brewton. This was made possible with the addition of registered echocardiogram technician, Wayne Hudson.

“I am pleased to announce that Wayne Hudson, a registered echocardiogram technician, has joined the D.W. McMillan team,” Lillian Heller, cardiopulmonary department director said. “He started doing cardiac and vascular ultrasounds in the cardiopulmonary department on July 3.”

Hudson attended Pensacola Junior College and graduated from the Florida Institute of Ultrasound in 1980.

Upon graduation, he started working for Baptist Hospital doing ultrasound.  In 1985, he began doing echocardiograms at Baptist and started coming to D.W. McMillan in 1992 as part of Mobile Diagnostics.  He continued working for Mobile Diagnostics under Baptist Hospital until earlier this year.

He was registered in OB/GYN ultrasound in 1985, registered in vascular ultrasound in 2000 and registered in cardiac ultrasound in 2017.
“We are very happy Wayne was able to become a member of the McMillan team,” said Chris Griffin, hospital administrator. “We are also excited about what the in-hospital services can do for local residents.”

Hospital officials said they worked to transition the service to an in-hospital service line from a contract arrangement with the Mobile Diagnostics Group of Baptist Healthcare.  Hudson will also assist with ultrasounds in the radiology department as needed.
