Bank of Brewton now offers online banking

The oldest bank in Alabama is now offering its customers the newest technology.

Jerry Kelly Jr., Bank of Brewton president, announced customers can now utilize online banking features.

Established in 1889, the bank has worked the last two years to bring the new features to its customers, Kelly said.

“Really, we’ve changed everything we’re doing,” said Kelly, who was appointed president in January. “We recognized that to be competitive in today’s banking world, the Bank of Brewton needed to offer these features and more to our customers.

“We also want to draw a new, younger client base,” he said. “Convenience is a demand for our customers, so this move will help us on both ends.”

The online conversion was completed July 27, Kelly said.

“We will also expand on these services in the coming months, and I think that customers – both current and new – will be thrilled with the changes,” he said. “We’re still working out some kinks, but everything is going well so far.”

Once registered, customers will be able to view real-time transactions and check images.

All accounts are linked to include loans and credit card accounts, too, he said.

Existing customers should visit bankofbrewton.com, click on the link “new online banking login” and follow the page instructions.

“We’re also in the process of launching a new web page design,” he said. “It should be ready in about three weeks. Then, after that, online bill pay should be available in October and later, mobile banking.

“We are so thrilled to be able to offer this technology to our customers,” Kelly said. “It’s been a long process, but one that is well worth it.”
