2 shot; FBI joins case

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now assisting in the double homicide case of a Flomaton couple.

Police were dispatched to the College Street home just after 2 p.m. Saturday at the request of a welfare check. When officers arrived, they found Timothy Adams, 50, and Susan Adams, 61, dead.

Since then, the Flomaton Police, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the state and federal bureaus of investigation have been working leads in the case, ECSO Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said.

“FPD officers and fire fighters were required to force entry into the home,” Lambert said. “When they were inside, they discovered the couple, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

“I can confirm there are several people of interest in this case, but no arrests have been made as of yet,” he said. “We are expecting results of the autopsies (Tuesday). The investigation is active, and Flomaton is being assisted by both SBI and FBI.”

Lambert said residents should be cautious and discredited rumors of a connection between Saturday’s discovery and recent shootings in Atmore.

“Nothing indicates that there is relation between Flomaton and the three shootings Atmore,” he said.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the FPD at 251.296.5811.
