A Brewton man is behind bars on charges of possession of child pornography.

David “Noah” Purdue, 19, is charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and attempt to possess obscene material.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday the investigation began on Aug. 10 when parents reported “what (they) felt to be inappropriate contact with their child of a sexual nature.” The charges stemmed from a joint investigation by the ECSO, the department of human resources and the Child Advocacy Center.

Purdue turned himself into authorities Wednesday and was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center, where he awaits bond setting.

The case remains under investigation.
