TERRY MASON CHAVERS

Mobile

Terry Mason Chavers, 61, of Mobile passed away Sunday, Feb. 25 at his resi- dence.

He was a native and long- time resident of Brewton before moving to Mobile. Chavers was a member of the Orchard Assembly of God Church in Mobile. He attended McCall School and graduated from Flomaton High School in 1974. He was a retired operator from Scott Paper Company/Kim- berly-Clark with 40 plus years of service. He was an avid Alabama fan.

He is survived by his mother, Alice Faye Chavers of Brewton; two brothers, Chuck Chavers of Molino, Florida, and David Chavers of Brewton; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray- mond Mason Chavers.

Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m. at Wil- liams Memorial Chapel Fu- neral Home with Bro. Vint Norris of ciating. Interment followed in Beulah Ceme- tery Brewton, Alabama with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

LINDA MARTIN SMITH

Mobile

Linda Martin Smith, 71, of Mobile passed away peacefully at her home on March 1.

She was a native and life- long resident of Mobile. Smith was of the Christian Faith and was in the rst graduating class of WP Da- vidson High School. She graduated with a BS in Bi- ology from Mobile College and from South Alabama with MS in Counseling. She worked as Counselor at Searcy Hospital, taught at Fairhope High School, Scar- borough Middle School, and Dixon Elementary School, and retired from the Mobile County School system after 31 years of service.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, James F. Smith of Mobile; daugh- ter, Maria Oyarzun (Ray) Hoover of Cayce, South Carolina; sister, Laurette Martin (Bruce) Walter St. Augustine, Florida; two grandsons, Jesse and Paul; numerous cousins; and her beloved pugs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie and Lucy Gandy Martin, and infant son, John Raul Oyarzun.

BREWTON

Lamar Cook, 66, of Pal- estine, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1.

He was a native and long- time resident of Brewton before moving to Pales- tine, Texas. Cook was of the Christian Faith, a 1970 graduate of T.R. Miller High School where he was on the Championship Foot- ball winning team, and was a retired oil consultant with Halliburtion.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darla Cook of Palestine, Texas; daughter, Camille Cook of Palestine, Texas; son, Jim (Christy) Cook of Alaska; brother, Glenn (Martha) Cook of Castleberry; two sisters, Katherine (Ronny) Wedge- worth of Flomaton, and Carole (Hollis) Tranum of Evergreen; and two grand- children, Alina Cook and James Michael Cook.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the Damascus Cemetery with Speaker Jack Fitts of ciat- ing. Interment will follow Damascus Cemetery Brew- ton with Williams Memo- rial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

SHIRLEY LOUENE SIMMONS JERKINS

Shirley Louene Simmons Jerkins, 59, of Brewton passed away on Sunday, March 4 at her home after an extended illness.

Jerkins was born in Brewton and spent her life- time in the Brewton com- munity. She was a member of the W.S. Neal High School Class of 1977, and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 17 years. Jerkins was a member of Ridge Road Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, James Sim- mons, and sister, Shaun Crutch eld.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ear- nest L. ‘Ernie’ Jerkins, Jr. of Brewton; her mother, Marvis Simmons of East Brewton; sons, Earnest O’Neil (Jennifer) Jerkins of Brewton, James Brad- ley (Ashton) Jerkins of Pike Road, and Joshua Shane (Whitney) Jerkins of Fort Rucker, AL; broth-

ALICE MAE DOUGHTY

Jay

Alice Mae Doughty, 83, passed away on Friday, March 2 at her Jay resi- dence.

Doughty was born in Oak Grove, Louisiana, and had been a resident of Jay for the past 16 years, com- ing from Slidell, Louisiana. She enjoyed cooking, gar- dening, and caring for her children and grandchildren. Doughty was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Bernard Doughty; her par- ents, Leroy Beavers and Tencie Smith Beavers; a son, Steve Doughty; and a brother and a sister.

She is survived by a son, Randy Doughty of Louis- ville, Kentucky; a daughter, Donna Lee Morris of Jay; a special niece, Cathy (Ash- ley) Tibbs, and their daugh- ters, Caroline and Kate of Diamond Head, Missis- sippi; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Dwain Curtis McGaha, 65, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18 in Mississippi.

McGaha was born in Brewton and had been liv- ing in Gulfport, Missis- sippi, for the past 10 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a self- employed electrician. He was of the Christian faith.

McGaha was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Blanche McGaha; and a brother, Ronald Mack Mc- Gaha.

He is survived by a son, Michael McGaha of Brew- ton; and a daughter, Hannah Grace McGaha of Brewton.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Blackburn Smith, 70, of Brewton passed away Mon- day, March 5 at a local hos- pital after a brief illness. She was a native and life- long resident of Brewton. Smith was a member of the New Home Free Will Bap- tist Church, a 1966 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, a member of the Brewton Quilting Club, and a retired bus driver from the Escam- bia County School System with 31 and a half years of service. She loved her fam- ily, and enjoyed her class meetings.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kenny Smith of Brewton; two sons, Shannon (Lot- tie) Smith and Chris (Shea) Smith of Brewton; two sisters, Jeanette Lowe and Annie Ruth (Buddy) Bell of Brewton; six grandchildren, Kaila Morris, Colton Mor- ris, Caitlyn Smith, Isaac Smith, Chloe Smith and

Claire Smith.
She was preceded in

death by her brothers, Clif- ton Blackburn and James Blackburn; and sister, Ev- elyn Frances Blackburn.

John Ivey Roberson, 66, of Brewton passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13 at his res- idence after a brief illness. He was a native and long- time resident of Brewton. Roberson was a member of the Calvary Mennonite Church and a retired Oil Rigger.

He is survived by his son, John Scott (Christy) Burnett of Calera; daugh- ter, Shannon (Clay) Hough of Axis; sisters, Lona (Bill) Kendrick of Owassa and Beth (Jimmy) Jenkins of East Brewton; four grand- children, Karsyn, Kathryn, Lily Grace and Connor; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Roberson and Edna Faye Nelson Roberson Black- mon; and sister, Wanda Roberson.
