The All star Academy Gymnasts competed Friday in the Spring Spectacular gymnastics meet in Emerald City and brought home the gold.

Last year, “we selected a group of our most talented girls to train and prepare for competition, “team coach Scot Perry said. “Josh Williamson and Shannon Cary are the other coaches for this group and we were looking for specific body types, strengths, flexibility and coach ability,” he said.

“We as coaches, are proud to work with such a talented group of athletes. The Academy gymnasts are from Brewton, Flomaton, Jay, Milton and Century Fla.”

The ages of these athletes ranges from 7-10. “These girls are academically inclined as well as athletes,” Perry said. “Our goal is to train hard, compete and focus on the Alabama state meet in December. I believe these girls are Brewton’s and the surrounding areas first gymnastics team.

“Brewton should be very proud to have these gifted athletes represent them for the state of Alabama,” Perry said.
