The Escambia County Commission on Monday gave consent to the acquisition of the Ridge Road Water Authority by the Water Works Board of the city of Brewton.

The city will acquire all assets and liabilities of the Ridge Road Water Authority and will provide water to the current customer or water users of the RRWA.

Commission Chairman Raymond Wiggins said three public hearing were held – one in Brewton, one at Ridge Road Volunteer Fire Department and one at Boykin-Damascus VFD.

The majority of residents at all meetings were in favor of the acquisition, he said.
