The students and staff of the Agriscience department at W.S. Neal High School are doing a great job on building tables.

Over 20 students and the Agriscience teacher Josh Coleman just recently built new tables for the courtroom in East Brewton. Coleman graduated from W.S. Neal High School in 1999. Coleman is also the FFA adviser and this is his fifth year as the Agriscience teacher.

“The wood for the tables was donated from Sheriff Grover Smith and my brother Jeff Coleman,” Coleman said.

Coleman and his students have built more than a dozen tables in all shapes and sizes. They had recently built a table for the baseball team during baseball season and donated it to them.

“It’s a good learning experience and the equipment is here for them to use. We do it for the students,” Coleman said.

The students get the basic knowledge of woodworking and know what to do if it strikes their interest. They build tables, but they also do welding and learn a lot of leadership stuff.

“The locals of East Brewton is like the quarterback club, they help us out and get the resources needed for the students to give them the best experience,” Coleman said.
