Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

T.R. Miller will officially kickoff basketball season for its men’s and women’s teams on Nov. 27.
This past week, the players of both teams could be found in the gyms of TRM practicing hard.
Drills were being ran for both offense and defense.
Shooting drills were ran as well to prepare to rack up points during the real thing.
Head Coach Terrence Walker ran up and down the court showing the guys how to cover their man properly to avoid any gaps being created that would allow the ball to escape into enemy hands.
“We have been working on developing our offense and defense by running various types of drills. We are preparing to open up on Nov. 27 at home and are doing everything we can to prepare for that game,” said Walker.
The Tiger’s boys’ basketball team has one state championship under their belts that was captured in 1952 under Nat Wyatt.
The Tigers went 28-0 that year and beat Priceville 58-44 to capture the Class A State Championship.
The last area championship was captured with Rob Atkinson as the head coach in 2006-2007 with a 19-7 season and a win in the regional finals against Douglas, 34-44, that handed TRM the 4A Final Four Area Championship.
This season Walker will look to lead the guys to another state championship and the work began months ago in anticipation.
On the other side of the court, the girls of TRM are looking to do the same under long-time head coach Ron Jackson.
Jackson first helped lead the girls to a 4A State Championship during the 1994-1995 season and has since, helped produce two more for a total of three state championships and at least nine other area championships.
Jackson is perhaps one of the most seasoned basketball coaches in the state and has a winning record to prove it.
Last season the girls team finished with a 3A Final Four Area Championship but fell short in the State Tournament.
Jackson is drilling the girls in fundamentals and in offensive and defensive tactics in anticipation for their season start on Nov. 27.
The Tigers will host Strong High School on Nov. 27 at home.
The B-team is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., the girls take the court at 6 p.m. and the boys varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
