Tigers prepare to open season this week

The ladies of T.R. Miller are back to work on the basketball courts this week as they set off to begin their regular season schedule.
The Lady Tigers played in a tournament last week in Fort Walton in pre-season action.
The Lady Tigers faced Niceville High School in the tournament during the first day of action.
Despite a great start and game by the Lady Tigers, they fell short against Niceville, losing the game 69-56.
During the first quarter, the Tigers jumped to a 16-14 lead.
At the end of the first half, the score remained neck and neck at 28-27 and at 47-45 after the third.
Both teams played hard and kept in reach of one another but the Tigers fell short during the final portion to Niceville.
Vanessa Samuel racked up 17 points during the game.
Alijah Fountain tallied 11 points and Janazsia Nettles walked away with 24 total points in the game.
The Lady Tigers fell to Choctawhatchee 48-56 on the second day of the pre-season tournament.
The Tigers kept this game close as well but was not able to convert a win at the end despite their strong play.
Aleria Smith had 20 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.
Alijah Fountain had 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.
Ravion Ewing had 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist and Shania Samuel tallied 5 points and 1 assist.
The girls are looking very strong this year and are building off of the lessons learned during the tournament.
The Lady Tigers will next take on Andalusia High School on Dec. 4 in Andalusia.
