Franklin Delon Roosevelt Jackson was born on Jan. 1, 1950 to Wille D. (deceased) and Hattie Mae Culliver Jackson Floyd (deceased). Hattie Mae later remarried and united with Herbert Floyd Sr., this union created a blessed blended family. Herbert was instrumental in his life from his teenage years. Franklin was born premature and mother always shared that he was placed in a shoe box with irons to keep warm. He grew into a vast man.
He joined Little Brooklyn Baptist Church at an early age and continued involvement until health reasons robbed him of this opportunity. He was an active member serving as deacon, treasurer and choir member. He loved people and always wanted to be helpful in making life better for others. He was a person of deep faith. He believed that we all are here on earth for preparation for our final home. He sang and prayed daily. His prayers often turned into sermons. Wisdom was a gift and providing advice was easy for him. He quoted scripture and interpreted clearly the meaning for the listener. Being a good teacher, he was able to help others understand some of the ugly things in life.
His work life included Alabama Ductile where he served as supervisor. He was an outstanding worker and was well respected and received many awards for his creativeness and process enhancements. He developed many friends in the work place.
He was united in marriage to Geneva H. Jackson for 49 beautiful years. To this union, two children were born, Jessica Weston and Franklin Jr. “Junior”.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Geneva; daughter, Jessica (David); son, Franklin Jr. “Junior;” adopted children, Kenneth James Jackson (Caprina), Darryl Glenn Jackson (Lynn), Eric Gordon Jackson, Willie Bernard Jackson (deceased), and Dequondre McCorvey; brothers, Willie James (Dorothy) Jackson, Herbert Floyd Jr., (deceased), and Michael (Lydia) Floyd; sisters, Juanita (William) Cox, Jean Jackson and Dr. Magnolia Jackson; aunts, Mary Sue Culliver, Ella Mae Middleton, and Sarah Jackson; uncles, Rev. Otis (Alice) Culliver, and Henry M. Jackson; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Willie) Bradley, Essie Thomas, Lisa (Willie) Owens, Mary Henry, and Sherrie (Bobby) Henry; brothers-in-law, James (Niece) Henry, John D. (Tanisha) Henry, and Raymond henry and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Also left to mourn is a special godmother, Margaret Culliver, who has always been available to lend a helping hand. Even though she lived next door, she was much more than a neighbor. She was a spiritual advisor, a mother, friend and one that would stick closer than any other. Her unwavering care will always remain special and a significant part of the Jackson family.
Services were held on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at Little Brooklyn Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Gray officiating.
