W. S. Neal High School Band just returned from a trip of a lifetime to DisneyWorld in Orlando, Fla.

According to Kim Waller, the band director, The band left on Feb. 6 and returned on Feb. 10. They carried 124 people to the theme park, 95 of them members of the band and 31 were band members’ parents.

The band was invited to come to DisneyWorld to perform in one of their parades.

“We were lucky,” said Waller. “We were given a spot in the biggest parade and everywhere we went, we were announced. Students got a big kick out of it and I think we represented W.S. Neal well.

First we had to send an application to Disney and then we had to send photographs and a film of the band while it was performing. It was a wonderful experience for the students. I am very proud of them and it was all worth the trip. The students got to look backstage as to how things work in the park. I think they enjoyed it a lot.”

Waller said they marched in the parade that was in the middle of the afternoon, which was one of the best spots to be.
