Teen shot in Conecuh Co. dies

A T.R. Miller student who was shot just over a week ago died Friday.

Jamie Maloy, spokesperson for the state bureau of investigation confirmed the death.

Jamal Duggans died a week after he was shot in Castleberry on his 18th birthday.

On Fri., Feb. 1, agents with SBI, at the request of Castleberry Police, assisted with the investigation of a shooting incident.

Agents arrested three individuals in connection with the shooting.

According to the Conecuh County jail report, 21-year-old Daladarius A. Smith, 20-year-old Ladwaun Q. Smith and 18-year-old Aquarius Taylor were arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with first-degree assault.

Duggans was taken to Baptist South in Montgomery before he succumbed to his injuries.

Maloy said that more arrests and charges are possible and all findings will be turned over to the Conecuh County District Attorney’s Office.
