JOE BUNYAN THOMPSON, JR

BREWTON

 

Mr. Joe Bunyan Thompson, Jr., 87, of Alexander Drive Brewton, Alabama passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 in a Mobile hospital after a brief illness. He was a native and former resident of Daviston and a longtime resident of Brewton. Mr. Thompson was a member of the North Brewton Baptist Church, A graduate of Daviston High School, a graduate of Auburn University, and a 1959 graduate of University of Alabama Law School, and was a retired lawyer.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hoomes Thompson of Brewton; three sons, Lee (Libby) Thompson of Spanish Fort, Davis (Emily) Thompson of Auburn, Bruce (Terrilynne) Thompson of Brewton; daughter, Julie (Justin) Hightower of Brewton; two sisters, Ann Elizabeth Thompson of Alexander City and Mary Thompson Catrett of Alexander City; 12 grandchildren, Walton (Macy) Thompson, Hamson Thompson, Barrett Thompson, Christian Alvarez, Tyler Nelms, Ethan Thompson, Reed Thompson, Hayley Thompson, Lauren Thompson, Nathan Thompson, Blake Hightower and Peyton Hightower; one niece, Star Catrett.

Visitation was held Tuesday afternoon Feb. 26, 2019 from 1 p.m.. until 3 p.m. at the North Brewton Baptist Church Brewton.

Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday afternoon Feb. 26, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the North Brewton Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Alvin Hoomes and the Rev. Shaphan Helms officiating. Interment followed in Daviston Cemetery Daviston, Alabama with Williams Memorial Funeral Home directing.

ALFRED THOMAS TREMER, JR

DAPHNE

 

Mr. Alfred Thomas Tremer, Jr., 70 of Daphne, Alabama passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, A long time resident of Brewton, before moving to Daphne. Mr. Tremer was a member of the Brewton First Baptist Church, a 1968 graduate of W.S. Neal High School where he played football, and a retired bleach plant operator from Container Corporation with 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Alabama Football.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Shanks Tremer of Daphne; two daughter, Alicia Tremer (Andy) Harp of Spanish Fort and Leigh (Julie Kunselman) Tremer of Pensacola, Florida; sons, Jesse (Cortney) Tremer of Point Clear and Robbie Tremer of Lee, Louisiana; two sisters, Mary Louise Brawner of Edgefield, South Carolina and Betty Townsend of Century; grandchildren, Chase Harp, Emily Grace Harp, Cassidy Tremer, Callie Tremer, and Madison Tremer; stepchildren, Scott (Mitzi) Shanks, Cindy Shanks (Larry) Waldrep, Kim Shanks (Coleman) O’Gwynn; step-grandchildren, Spencer Waldrup, Weston Waldrup, Katie Hess O’Gwynn and Ellie O’Gwynn; and countless nieces, nephews great-nieces, great-nephews and even great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Emma Tremer Fuqua; father, A. T. Tremer Sr.; stepfather T. A. Fuqua; sisters, Libby Madden, Diana Robinson, and Carolyn Keely and wife of 43 years, Marsha Smith Tremer.

Visitation was held Friday afternoon Feb. 22, 2019 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Brewton First Baptist Church Brewton.

Funeral Services were scheduled for Friday afternoon Feb. 22, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Brewton First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Finklea officiating and with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral home directing.

MARY MATTLINE ROSS STORY

EAST BREWTON

Mrs. Mary Mattline Ross Story, 88 of Roosevelt Street East Brewton, Alabama passed away Thursday, Feb, 21, 2019 in a Atmore, Alabama medical facility after a brief illness. She was a native and former resident of Tennessee, and a long-time resident of East Brewton.. Mrs. Story was a member of the First Open Bible Church, a former waitress having worked at Ziglar, Cozy Corner, and Miller Cafe, and a Homemaker.

She is survived by her son, Grady Story of East Brewton; daughter, Pamela (Stevie) Story Henry of East Brewton; sisters, Mary Howard and Frances Beavers; one great-grandchild Nicole Peacock; brother-in-law Byron Story; nephew, Jason Story.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Lee Story and two sons William Story and Marshall Wayne Story

Visitation was held Saturday night Feb. 23, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services were scheduled for Sunday afternoon Feb. 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Skidmore and Bro. Wayne Butts officiating.

Interment followed in Green Acres Cemetery Brewton.

 

SHANNON NICOLE SMITH

EAST BREWTON

Mrs. Shannon Nicole Smith, 41 of Clements Street East Brewton, Alabama passed away Sunday Feb. 24, 2019 in a Pensacola, Florida Hospice Facility after an extended illness. She was a native of Mobile, Alabama and a long time resident of East Brewton, Alabama. Mrs. Smith was a 1995 graduate of W.S. Neal High High School, and was a former employee of Hainjes Furniture.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara Smith of Milton, Florida; three sons, Will Baker, III of Brewton, Brody Brown of Brewton and Luke Brown of Brewton; two brothers, Treavor Smith of Brewton and Tyler Smith of Brewton, and two grandchildren, Draker Baker and Audrey Baker

She was preceded in death by her father, Mickey Smith.

Visitation will be held Wednesday night Feb. 27, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home in Brewton.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday afternoon Feb. 28, 2019 at 2 p.m.. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home with Speaker Grayson Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery Brewton.
