Local residents from the East Brewton, southern portion of Brewton, Pollard, Riverview, McCall, Flomaton, Keego, Dixonville and Jay areas are reporting what felt like an earthquake.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., locals started reporting the shaking.

The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that there was a 3.1 magnitude earthquake 5 kilometers, east northeast of Flomaton.

This is the second earthquake in less than a week in the area.

A weak 2.6 magnitude earthquake was confirmed near Rose Marie Bishop Road and near Bray Mill Creek on the northwest side of Jay on March 6.

Kelly Castelin said she felt it in Riverview.

“Rumbling and furniture moving in my house, too,” she said.
