A Milton, Fla., man was injured when his vehicle collided with the Blackwater bridge on Bradley Road.

State Troopers say the incident occurred around 9 a.m., on Tuesday.

Trooper ssay that the vehicle was traveling west on Bradley Road.

The driver, identified as Ricky D. Nelson, had just finished a night shift at work with just two hours of rest, according to a release from the Alabama State Troopers.

Medics on the scene checked Nelson’s blood glucose level and it registered high, but he refused medical transport.

According to the press release, the driver told Troopers that he had turned left onto Bradley Road and the next thing he knew he was on top of the bridge rail.

His vehicle – a 2009 Chevrolet – struck the right side of the bridge rail causing the vehicle to dart left and strike the left side rail.

This caused the vehicle to ride on top of the bridge rail and eventually the vehicle rolled over and fell from the bridge down to the river’s bank.

Troopers say Nelson was wearing his seat belt and appeared to be injured.
