Joyner gets another call up

W.S. Neal graduate Tyler Joyner has moved up to Advanced A ball after a strong start to the 2019 season.

Joyner started the season in A ball with the Delmarva Shorebirds where he was 5-0 with a 1.91 E.R.A in 24 games. He struck out 61 batters in 61.1 innings pitched.

With his outstanding performance, he was bumped up to the Frederick Keys.

In his short time with the Keys, Joyner has struck out two batters in two innings pitched.

Joyner was a 2013 graduate of W.S. Neal before going to pitch for the University of North Alabama.

In his one year at North Alabama, Joyner was one of the Lions’ top pitchers in 2017 when he posted a 10-2 record with seven complete games in 14 starts.

The Baltimore Orioles took notice and the scooped him up in the 30th round of the 2018 draft.

Joyner pitched in 13 games with one start in his first year with stops in the Rookie League and Lower A ball.

In his lone start, Joyner threw a complete game shutout and ended the year with a 3-0 record a 3.15 E.R.A.
