This weekend the town of Brewton will be transported back in time to the 19th century. 206 years ago on July 27, 1813, a battle transpired right here in Brewton between the Red Sticks and U.S. soldiers from Fort Mims. The reenactment will take place in Jennings Park July 27 at 12 p.m.

“If you hear any booming gunshots around town, they’re coming from Jennings Park,” City of Brewton Public Lands Manager Steve Layton said.

The City of Brewton has invited the Santa Rosa Creek Indians for cultural demonstrations. Booths of all varieties containing real artifacts and historical trinkets that originated from the 19th century will be presented by history enthusiasts. Fur trade, gun repairs, pottery, and food vendors will also be in attendance. For more information about the event, check out the event’s Facebook page @burntcornlivinghistory .
