Marvin Wayne Davis Sr., affectionately known as “Wayne” was born March 4, 1951 in Brewton, Alabama to Ruthie Lee Davis Jones and Zeno Johnson Sr. He was raised by his grandparents, Willie D. “Bill” Davis and Fannie Sue Davis. Wayne attended Boykin School and graduated at Southern Normal School. He departed this life on Fri., Oct. 4, 2019 at a local hospital.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Second St. John Baptist Church of which he loved to the day God called him home. There, he was a dedicated and faithful member serving diligently as a deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School (for many years), Assistant Chairman of the Deacon Board, and a member of Second St. John Choir. He was also president of St. John’s Youth Choir for many years with the late Lois Culliver. He was a member of Boykin Lodge #309 until it became inactive and he was a member of the Sisters & Brothers of Charity Society of Evergreen, AL. Wayne worked for 46 years at T.R. Miller Mill Company where he retired. He was also a great cook and was known as the “Family Fish Fryer”.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Novella Travis Davis; four sons, Marvin Wayne (Regina) Davis Jr. of Montgomery, Ala., Brad Davis, Damien Jackson and Rick (Amy) Walton, all of Brewton;  five daughters, Amanda (Alden) Kirby of Atlanta, Ga., Tonya Davis, Janet (Robert) Jones Jr., all of Brewton, Valerie (Anderson) Tolbert and Stacey (Timothy) Leggitte, both of Evergreen, Ala.; three brothers, John (Tracy) Lovelace of Collierville, Tenn, Zeno Johnson Jr. and Robert (Janet) Jones Jr., both of Brewton; five sisters, Betty Morgan of Miss., Evelyn Jean Sims, Patricia Farrish, Shirley (George) Watson, and Alice (Daryle) Bradley, all of Brewton; 21 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a devoted sister-in-law, Annette (Joseph) Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; two aunts, Lois Crook and Ceola Jackson; a special cousin, Frankie Diane Samuel and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Service for Mr. Davis were held Sat., Oct. 12, 2019 at Second St. John Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor W.J. Dailey officiating.

Interment followed at Second St. John Cemetery.

Professional care and final arrangements were entrusted to Presley-Fluker Funeral Directors of Brewton and Evergreen, Ala.
