EAST BREWTON – Friday marks the 77th meeting of W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller (6-4, 3-3) in the Battle of Murder Creek.

From a WSN perspective, its is the opportunity to salvage a (3-6, 2-5) lackluster, injury-plaged season. For  TRM, a chance for the Tigers to go into the playoffs on a winning note and seize momentum.

Neal enters the game off of a 21-6 loss to top-ranked UMS-Wright. Ther Blue Eagle defense limited UMS-Wright to only  2 touchdowns. The other Bulldog score came on a kickoff return.

TRM, on the other hand, dropped a 20-12 decision to Flomaton in a game where the Tigers “made too many mistakes in the first half” and could not recover.

TRM won last year’s game 14-12 and leads the series 52-22-0. The Tigers have a 25-11-0 home record against WSN.

Friday’s game shapes up with the potential of a replay of last year’s contest. Both teams are run-oriented.

The TRM defense could be the difference with the talents of Landon Lindsey, Draper McMilliams, Ean Carpenter, along with two-way players Kevon Samuel and Orlando Gandy Jr.

Orrehsively, TRM’s offensive line must execute. The backfield is solid with Blake Jernigan at quarterback, Samuel, Gandy, Narkavis Campbell and Daris Webb in the backfield.

Defensively, WSN must get good play from two-way performer Kage Sims and Mario Lane from their linebacking positions.

Senior quarterback Samuel Bosarge will direct the offense and rely heavily on the running of sophomore Isaac Bonham and Sims. Amon Craig and Ezekiel Smith.

Andro Williams, in his third year at WSN, is 1-1 in this series.

“We want our kids coming into this game as just another game,” he said. :

“We do want our kids to believe this game is above all others. We would like to win, of course, to finish the season on a  positive note for the team, the fans, school and community.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
