Mrs. Mary Alice Edwards Johnson, 96, passed away Sun., Feb. 23, 2020, in a Monroeville health care facility.

Mrs. Johnson was a native and lifelong resident of Range.  She was born on Jan. 2, 1924 and passed from this life on Feb. 23, 2020 at age 96.  Mrs. Johnson was a member of Hartwood United Methodist Church all her life.  In her younger years,  Mrs. Johnson enjoyed travelling, and attending church and social gatherings with friends and family.  She was united in marriage to Harvey Lee Johnson on Feb. 2, 1946 until his death in 1983.

In her later years, Mrs. Johnson enjoyed doing word search puzzles and receiving visits from family and friends.  She had many stories to tell for anyone who would listen.  Many people referred to Mrs. Johnson simply as “Aunt Mary” whether related to her or not.

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents, Manson and Emmie Edwards, and infant son, her husband, Harvey Lee Johnson, brothers, Louis Newton Edwards, Otis Lawrence Edwards, a sister, Margaret (Edwards) Shipp, and a niece, Penny (Edwards) Goodwin.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Edwards Johnson will be held on Thur., Feb. 27, 2020 at 2PM at Hartwood United Methodist Church in Range. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services.

Her great-great nephew, Thad Evans, and Rev. George Weaver will officiate.

Burial will follow in Hartwood Cemetery.  Floral arrangements are welcomed or you may wish to donate to:  Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla., 33607.
