The Greater Brewton Lions Club hosted a pancake breakfast this past Sat.

“We’ve done this the last three years, we kind of had a 5 year break and then we resurrected it three years ago,” President Steve Layton shared.

Held at David’s Catfish in Brewton, the community was invited to attend. Each plate included pancakes and Conecuh sausage. “Josh is fabulous to help out and give us this opportunity to do this here,” long-time member Hugh Miller said.

All proceeds from the event benefited the local community.

“We have several things we support, and every year is different. Anything the community needs, we are willing to work with it. We have these basic things but it doesn’t stop us from helping other places,” Miller explained.

Every year, the Greater Brewton Lions Club supports examinations and glasses for qualified children and adults in the area.

The club is especially mindful of students. Per tradition, the club sponsors a scholarship to Coastal Alabama Community College for a T.R. Miller High School and W.S. Neal High School graduate. This past year, the club sent 4 delegates to the 2019 Alabama Lions High School Leadership Forum at Troy University.

Lastly, the club seeks to send children with diabetes to Camp Seale Harris, a southeastern diabetes education services.

All of the service projects are only made available through projects like the pancake breakfast.
