Within the area, fast food restaurants and stores are making changes to combat COVID-19.

As of Mon., Taco Bell, Arby’s, Popeye’s and Pizza Hut moved to drive thru only options.

David’s Catfish has changed its services. Announcing Tues., the restaurant is only curbside.

The restaurant reported, “In an effort to protect our guests and employees, we have made the decision to move our operations to drive-thru & curbside service only.

You can either call-in your order at 251-867-3555 or 251-867-6677 or you may pull into our parking lot and we will have one of our servers take care of you.

We will work to make this the best possible experience for everyone and ask in advance for your patience as we adapt to these new changes.

This decision foreshadowed the state’s decision on Tues. to limit the actions of citizens for Jefferson and surrounding counties (Tuscaloosa, Walker, Blount, St. Clair and Shelby).

According to the Alabama Department of Pubich Health, gatherings of 25 persons or more where a six-foot distance cannot be maintained should be canceled. Additionally, any restaurant, bar, brewery or Category 3 food service establishment shall not permit on-premises consumption of food or drink for one week. This order will be reevaluated at the end of one week. ADPH is also strongly encouraging other counties across the state to adhere to these same guidelines.

This order was only for the counties listed;however, State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris told Alabamians in a press conference on Tues., “I encourage all counties to attempt to implementing these orders.”

Emphasizing the need to stay home and away from others, Harris said, “It is time for Alabamians to hunker down.”

Walmart  of Brewton has also adjusted hours to 6 a.m. until 11 p.m.
