Herrington’s The Florist, Inc. is finding a way to make a difference amid the pandemic.

The shop is encouraging everyone to buy a bow symbolizing prayer for the nation and community during this difficult time.

By purchasing a red, white, and blue ribbon, funds will be given to Backpack buddies, a local organization that feeds children at W.S. Neal Elementary, Brewton City Elementary, and other middle schools.

“We have sold over 300 bows so far since we posted Sat. night,” said Hillary Herrington, organizer of the project.

The idea was born during a late night of work at the office.

“My dad was scrolling through facebook and saw a share from the bows being displayed in Houston, Texaas. It went from there,” said Herrington.

Both in Houston, Texas and now Brewton, individuals are displaying bows in their yards to pray for the pandemic.

“It was a collaboration of people that work here that came up with the idea,” said Herrington.

Bows are available now at the local shop and can be purchased for $10. $5 of the cost will go directly to Backpack Buddies.
