A new state health order will go into effect tomorrow at 5 p.m. and last until April 17 at 5 p.m.

During a press conference held on Fri. morning, Gov. Ivey and Alabama State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris updated the state on the newest developments surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“As of this morning 538 people in Alabama have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 3 have passed away due to complications,” said Ivey.

“I cannot stress to you enough the fact that we must be serious about eliminating the spread of this deadly virus. I am doing everything in my power. We must protect the people of Alabama. I want all of us to think of this as ‘Together Alabama,’” she added.

Among the businesses that will be closed are entertainment venues, gyms, retail stores, fitness centers, spas, tourist attractions, just to name a few.

In addition to the closures, gathering of 10 people or more are prohibited.

“All non-work related gatherings of 10 persons or more are prohibited. We initially had a health order of 25 or more, we have changed that to 10 persons or more,” said Dr. Harris.
