LEONARD LYNN PEEVY

BREWTON, ALA.

Mr. Leonard Lynn Peevy,  88,  of Brewton, Ala., passed away Friday, Apr. 3, 2020,  in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County, Ala.

Mr. Peevy was a member of the Brewton First Baptist Church and a 1950 graduate of W.S. Neal High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and the Berlin Crisis. He worked in the Veterans Affairs office for 14 1/2 years, was the State Commander of the American Legion, and was recognized by the 113th House of Representatives for over 60 years of service to the American Legion.  He later retired as tax collector from Escambia County, Ala. with 12 years of service. He enjoyed camping and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Brooks Peevy of Brewton; a son Carl (Jan) Peevy of Jacksonville, Ala.; three daughters, Debra Mullis of Brewton, Pam (Jimmy) Crenshaw of Excel, Ala., and Susan (Frank) Carroll of Greenwich, Conn.; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; (12) nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland and Mamie Lynn Peevy and ten brothers.

Graveside Services were scheduled for Monday, Apr. 6, 2020, at 2PM at Union Cemetery with Rev. Ron Headley and Dr. Jimmy Adkisson officiating.

Interment followed in Union Cemetery Brewton, Ala., with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
