BREWTON, ALA.
Gloether Maness Gantt died Monday, April 27, 2020 after a short illness. Born in Thomasville (Bashai), Ala., on September 11, 1925, she was the daughter of Thelma W. Pope and step-father George Pope.
Gloether worked in Mobile, Ala., during and after World War II and met her husband, Oliver Pollard Gantt of Andalusia, Ala., (“OP”) after his return from combat. Gloether and OP raised three adoring children: Janet Gantt Hart (husband Tom), Pamela Gantt Blackburn and Michael Oliver Gantt. Her husband, OP and her daughter Pam predeceased her. Gloether was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and always a doting Grandmother to her grandchildren: Lee Hart, Jena Hart, Beth Blackburn Marky (husband Josh) and Sam Blackburn, as well as grandsons, Trent Hart and Logan Blackburn.
Gloether was a member of Alco Baptist. In addition to her children and grandchildren she leaves to cherish her memory her sister-in-law Joann Williams and brother in law Phil Gantt (wife Susan), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins of the extended Gantt and Freeman families all of whom she loved and enjoyed.
Gloether wished to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be arranged with the family for a later time.
