Zion Fountain AMEZ Church of Brewton is serving the community one project at a time.
“Well since this pandemic started changing the way of life, we here at Zion Fountain AMEZ Brewton have been feeding the Brewton community and even once in the Flomaton area,” said Rev. Anthony Thames. Mindful of the community and taking note of the good deeds happening around the world, Thames decided it was time to partner with others in the community to make a difference.
“I saw how people around the world were sharing love to the front-line workers in their areas, so I wanted to bring that same spirit of love to our front-line workers,” he shared.
Joined by Eliot Fairclothe, owner of Popeye’s, the group was able to give “Thank You Certificates,” to the front-line workers that included 2 piece chicken meals.
Thames explained, “Eliot Fairclothe owner of Popeye’s has been such a wonderful friend and always tries to support whatever we are doing for the community. So I approached him with the idea of giving back to the front-line workers, and he did not hesitate to partner with us.”
Together the friends/benevolence partners were able to award each front line worker at West Gate Nursing Home, Pic & Save Grocery Store of Brewton, Pizza Hut, and the Escambia County Correctional Facility a 2 piece chicken dinner.
Seeing a need and meeting the need, the two also fed the community a few weeks ago. “Also a couple of weeks back we partnered and gave out 220 two piece chicken boxes in Brewton, Flomaton, and Atmore,” said Thames.
Excited for more opportunities to reach out, Thames added, “We have plans to continue the love to other front-line workers as well.”
