Blueberry season has arrived. With the cancellation of the Alabama Blueberry Festival, many inquired about purchasing the berries from local farms. According to the Alabama Blueberry Festival Facebook page, anyone interested should contact Roger Templeton, employee at Brewton Knapdale Farms.
“The blueberries are available at the Green Thumb Farm Stand, Piggly Wiggly, and Pic-N-Sav,” said Templeton.
With roughly 9 acres full of blueberry bushes, Knapdale Farms is picking the berries and selling them by the pint and flat.
Templeton shared, “There are 12 pints in a flat, and it is $30 a flat. We will start selling them Thurs. here at the Blueberry Shed. We are not here very long – 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.”
Only flats are available for purchase; however, single pints can be found at local grocers.
“The best thing to do is call me and make sure we have them,” he said.
According to Templeton, the berries are in high demand and go by fast. For more information or to purchase a flat, call 251-513-1021.
