Grady Sean McNeal, age 53, passed away on June 6, 2020 in Managua, Nicaragua where he resided part time. Sean was born on April 5, 1967 in Dothan, Ala., to Wilodyne Williams Frazier and Grady Lamar McNeal.
After graduating from TR Miller High School in Brewton, Ala., he attended the University of Alabama where he achieved a bachelor’s degree majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. He achieved a master’s degree from American University and then concluded his education at Columbia University where he received a PhD. He taught Spanish at numerous colleges including New York University and Eastern Illinois University in the United States. He also taught English in Uruguay for a number of years.
Sean loved to travel abroad but when he was in the states, he spent much of his free time enjoying Pensacola, Fla. Beach. He loved to read and listen to gospel music, specifically Johnny Cook and Vestal Goodman.
Sean is survived by his brother and wife Will and Keela McNeal of Navarre Fla.; his maternal Grandmother, Bernardine Williams of Evergreen, Ala.; his Uncle and Aunt Marc and Sharon Williams, also of Evergreen, Ala.; numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilodyne Frazier and Grady Lamar McNeal; his stepfather, Wayne Frazier; his maternal grandfather, Mack Williams; his paternal grandmother, Gwen Bundy and paternal grandfather, Grady McNeal.
A memorial will be announced and held in Brewton at a later date.
