The Alabama Department of Labor released the official count for initial claims filed during the week of June 21-June 27, 2020.
18,340 initial claims were filed either online or by telephone during this period. 11,119 of those claims are COVID-19 related.
In Escambia County, 135 initial claims were filled during the week. This number is only 4 more claims than the week prior and nearly half the number compared to April and March.
All in all, It seems the unemployment rate is on the decline.
